]]>The Ginger Pickle is a highly prized, incredibly effective, and taste bud tingling recipe that increases digestive agni, (agni translates to fire). Because of this, it is also a fabulous boost to the immune system.
It’s a ‘trick’ used by brides to help them fit into their dress on their special day…
but it’s also amazingly beneficial to three of your body’s systems.
That’s because your digestive system, your immune system, and your nervous system rely on each other.
If one of the wheels hits a hard bump and bends, it becomes wobbly and the other 2 wheels have to work double time to keep you moving.
Adding the Ginger Pickle into your daily or weekly regimen will help you stay healthier because you are digesting better.
Eat it before meals and enjoy better digestion, less gas and bloating, and improved mental alertness.
Optional Supportive Additions
Grate a 2 inch piece of ginger root into a glass bowl.
Add
pinch to 1/4 tsp of gray sea salt
juice of one lemon
drizzle of honey
essential oils to taste
Stir
Take 1 teaspoon before your meal(s) to increase your digestive fire. Save the rest for later in the day.
There are several elements that make this an effective natural digestive aid.

Like that secret sugar addiction, late night online shopping, drinking iced drinks, or that your really eating chemical, lab created “foods” rather than whole foods.
So if you’re walking around with excess baggage under your eyes or around your jowls, give your face the gift of a personal massage.
It’s one of my favorite self care rituals.
I want to do this once a week, but that doesn’t always happen. I will to do it on or around the Full and New Moons at a minimum.
Following moon cycles helps my body stay in sync with the natural rhythms of the seasons.
Add Frankincense or an Anti-Aging Blend to your finger tips for added effectiveness. These are wonderful for your skin, I use both of these twice a day, every day.
This is great to do if you feel like you may be ‘coming down with something’. Remember, your lymphatic system is vital to your immune resiliency.

]]>In fact, I didn’t really get excited about science until I was out of school and raising my children.
Now, I study the science of yoga, Ayurveda and essential oils. I’ve become a bit of a geek.
There aren’t a lot of public videos on the science of essential oils, so I wanted to share this with you. It’s from one of my favorite scientist, Dr. Robert Pappas, the world leader in essential oil chemistry.
Think your nose knows?Nope.
There are actually professional sniffers that cannot tell the difference between ‘high quality’ synthetic scents and pure, unadulterated aromatic essential oils.
Also, lavender grown in Provence, France smells different than lavender grown in Tennessee.
It’s important to be aware of the quality of the oils you are using.
That’s where Dr. Pappas comes in. He has studied the chemistry of essential virtually his entire adult life. He is the world’s foremost authority on essential oil chemistry.

I use them to clean my home and to care for my body safely so I could improve my life and reduce my body’s toxic load. At that time, there were no online schools easily accessible and if there were, I really wasn’t healthy enough to a lot of electronic searching, much less retain much of the science heavy courses available.
I wanted practical, simple, and effective ways to use essential oils for my well-being.
I kept hearing everyone talk about Lavender Essential Oil and how they regarded it as an integral part of their essential oil kit, so much so that they would not leave the house without it.
I could not stand the smell of Lavender. But you know what, I had actually never smelled pure Lavender Essential Oil, I have been smelling synthetic fragrance oils. No wonder I didn’t like the sticky sweet smell I thought was lavender.
Now that I have become aware of the difference between a pure, safe, and unadulterated essential oi synthesized or inferior essential oil, Lavender Essential Oil has become my Desert Island Oil. It is always in my purse, I keep it on my kitchen counter, by my bed and in my bathroom. I use it for everything, soothing savage stress, as skin calmer, pest control and to ease jangled nerves. It’s the first thing I reach for when I feel occasional aches and to relieve tension, whether it’s in my head, muscles, or on my skin.

]]>I was so excited to be in one of the most beautiful and glamorous zip codes, the land of swimming pools and movie stars, but hubby was lamenting missing the first game of the University of Tennessee football season. He is HUGE college football fan!
Then one of our friends popped up with AMAZING seats to the USC game; Field Suite seats!
But I had not packed football stadium attire or, yikes, sunscreen. Luckily though, I had put my favorite, beauty and anti-aging essential oil blend in my purse for the flight out.
This particular blend is loaded with luscious skin loving oils like Frankincense, Sandalwood, Lavender, Myrrh, Helichrysum, and Rose.

Fun on the sidelines, I added some peppermint essential oil to the complementary pink water sprayer to cool everyone!
okay, I was really checking out the celebrities around us, I started thinking about what the harsh LA sun was doing to our skin. We didn’t bring sunscreen and while sunscreen was graciously provided to each suite, it was the typical toxic stuff I don’t want to put on the largest organ of our bodies.
That’s when I remembered that I had carried my favorite blend in my purse for our flight. I took it out and started applying to my skin, my shoulders, nose, ears and decollete. Then on my fair skinned, red headed hubby.
In spite of the sun beating straight down onto our faces, our skin looked and felt amazing!
This little bottle of oily goodness really takes care of the skin. It’s formulated to nourish and promote a healthy response in the skin. Supporting skin health at the cellular level, these essential oils sustain smoother, more radiant and youthful skin.

]]>There are new pencils, notebooks, pens and friends to make. But for some, there is anxiety because of ‘performance’ issues.
If they are having difficulty focusing, chances are they are disrupting the class room, I did. During the first grade, I was put in an isolation box to keep me from talking to my neighbors. It was a big refrigerator box turned on end with only side cut away so I could not look around and see the rest of the class.
If they aren’t disruptive, which I learned not to be, they may be day dreaming, like I did. Their teacher will ask them a question pulling them out of their reverie, and suddenly, their classmates will snicker because of the stammering and incorrect response. That’s what happened to me and how I learned the skill of listening to two conversations at once. (this skill is really great if you want to be a spy, but generally kind of useless when you want to be fully engaged)
Recently, a friend of mine came home from university and shared with me how he had tried Adderall. He told me he liked the way he could think clearly and focus, but didn’t like the way he felt. He knew I was into alternative things and asked if there was something I could recommend. I gave him my focus blend of essential oils to try. He didn’t like the smell, so I told him to put it on his feet then put his shoes and socks on.
Guess what? He used it and was able to complete a research paper in one sitting with out irritability and jitters. Now, it’s his go to when he wants to have better focus and improved creativity.
Follow these steps if you want to get back to learning instead of back to struggling this fall.
First, eat to feed the brain. Eat healthy fats. By mass, the brain is 60% fat. No fat and low fat diets and foods starve the brain.
Second, heal your gut. There are multiple neuro transmitters produced in our digestive tract. Have you ever tried to really focus when your belly is upset? Pretty impossible, right?
Third, set yourself (or your child) up for success. Clear your environment of clutter and noise. Turn off the TV. Instead, play music without lyrics.
Forth, use essential oils. Essential oils like lemon, lavender, lemongrass, peppermint, sandalwood and the focus blend mentioned in the video below support the brains ability to settle or calm for optimal processing and function.
